One topic that has stirred deep emotions within me are the bias and –isms that are throughout this world that children have to experience at no fault of their own. Children do not ask to be brought into this world, someone choose to put them here. It is society’s responsibility to treat children with the respect they would their equal. We know that does not happen, even in some child care settings there are biases and –ism that take place. When I was acquiring my degree there wasn’t a lot of emphasis put on diversity which now must be addresses in all environments. I have created a training to teach others in the field of appropriate ways of dealing with and interacting with those that are different from themselves.
Finally, the knowledge of adult learning styles and the teaching techniques that I have learned has made a profound impact on my anticipated career ventures. The exposure to different theorist and philosophies of adult learning styles is great information that will serve me well in the future as I begin to teach. As will the multitude of teaching techniques to implement for different learning styles and during different types of instructional settings.
In the near future, I plan to develop more training sessions for the early care and education (ECE) field. My long-term goal is to become a college instructor for ECE courses. This may be a while away but I am ready to get start on my experience to break into a new realm of the early care and education field. However, my journey may lead me to discovered a different type of advocacy role for children. With the resent opportunities in the field that my fellow classmates have shared and I have discovered there are many directions my passion for the respect and quality care for children could lead me to.
